About Talbot
Talbot Kennel is the
realization of a lifelong dream for me, Amy Duncan. I grew up in dogs
and started showing dogs before I entered kindergarten. I started
showing in junior showmanship the day after my 10th birthday and had a
very successful career ending up in the Top Ten All-breeds in 1996.
Throughout my junior showmanship career I embarked in learning the dog
show trade by apprenticing on the weekends at shows under great
professional handlers such as Jay Richardson and Scott and Susan Kipp.
My junior and senior year in high school I apprenticed under the great
care of Margaret and Roland Wilson. From them I learned the delicate
touch that is needed with so many sporting breeds and the finesse it
takes to truly present them to their fullest potential.
I then went on to
college and graduated cum laude from Marquette University with a
Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science. Throughout my undergraduate
career I worked for Ken and Virginia Murray. After graduation, I
focused on my apprenticeship and worked full time for the Murrays.
This experience was unparalleled in the knowledge I gained. I not
only continued honing my skills as a handler, but learned in depth the
physical conditioning needed for top dogs. While studying with the
Murrays, I got to spend time with some amazing dogs, most notably
Fever, CH. Honeygait N Lampliter Fever (the top
winning English setter bitch in history with 40 all-breed best in
shows), Travis, CH. Honeygait Goodtime Hot Topic
(multiple best in show winning English setter),
Beauty, CH. Glenlair American Beauty (top best in show
winning border terrier), Wizard, CH. White Acres Wizard
(best in show winning English foxhound - my first best in show!),
Whit, CH. Colthouse Millennium Man (best in show winning
English setter - my first best with an English setter!),
Simone, CH. Briarbrook's I'm Too Sexy (multiple best in
show winning Australian shepherd). I can't express enough my
gratitude in being able to work with these amazing dogs!
